Tonka Truck

Remember the days when you played in the sandbox and rode down the driveway sitting on your Tonka Truck?

This past week I was able to fulfill one of my childhood fantasy's. "Driving a Tonka Truck". Well actually I drove a Komatsu 930E Haul Truck at the Komatsu proving grounds in Tucson Arizona. This was way Cool. 16 cylinders 2,700 horse power , 320 tonne payload and of course it was fitted with six Michelin 53/80R63 XDR. This machine handled just like a sports car. I spent about 15 minuets doing donuts in the dirt, driving up and down 8% grade hill. I smiled from one cheek to the other!

My Travels with Michelin

Below are some pictures taken while I was in Boron, California at Rio Tinto Borax mines. One of the richest borate deposits on the planet. The mine is actually located across from Edwards Air force Base I got to see some really cool planes flying over.

And I can't forget the most amazing Mexican restaurant we ate at every day "Domingo's" there food is so HOT!

What does Spring Represent to you?

Spring is seen as a time of birth, growth, renewal of new life, warmer days, Easter and a transition of seasons.

For me spring represents "Quinn". I witnessed his birth, and get to see how he develops and grows every day. He has renewed my life with excitement and love. Each day is warmer and he has chosen me to transition him from boy to man.

To me spring is not a season, it's not a holiday but spring represents my boy "Quinn".

Life Changing Event

I woke up this morning laughing about a life changing event I witnessed about a year ago at LAX when I was waiting for my flight to Toronto.

I was just sitting there minding my own business and noticed a young boy maybe 13 years old fighting with a payphone. (Yes a Payphone) He kept looking over at his father and throwing his arms up in the air and saying "Its just not working dad, I don't understand I dial the number and nothing happens!!" His dad just sat there shaking his head and told him to keep tyring. The boy went from one payphone to the next and back again.

By this time I was starting to laugh and had to hold the tears back.

With defeat in this boys eyes he finally gave up and went to his dad and told him "I just can't call home. What am I doing wrong". The Dad replies" Well son... Do you have the change I gave you?" The son replies "YES" Dad says " Well son...first you need to lift the handset off the cradle, then insert the change and then dial the number" The son replies "SNAP" In a blink of an eye he jumped to his feet ran to the closest payphone and did exactly has his dad told him. Then He looked over at his dad and gave him two thumbs up!!

Who thought learning how to use a payphone would be life changing?

First Blog Post

My Wife, family and friends and every other person in this world has a Blog except for me... well until today. I have known about blogs for years and have magically been able to stay away from blogging about my life adventures. Even though I have had so many adventures and life experiences to share with the world. LOL (Insert Sarcasm here)

It all started this morning because my Wife caught me reading her blog and said "why don't you start to blog?" And before I had a chance to answer she created me a account and was creatively deciding on my blog name and designing my banner and signature. So here I sit now writing my first post and becoming excited about all of the life experiences I have had and going to have and want to be-able to share them with my Family, friends and every other person in this world.

And because blog posts are always more interesting with photos, here is a recent photo of my son (one of my favourites), just because I think he's cute and I'm a proud dad. There will be many more photos of him (and of course other things) to come! Hope you follow along!
